Swami Vivekananda Centenary Memorial Hall

Capacity
1200 seats.
The foundation stone for
the International Cultural Centre was laid on the 17th
June 1959 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the then President of the Republic of
India, and was declared open on the 15th October 1962 by Sri Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India.
This centre provides accommodation to guests and tourists.
The construction work of
the Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hall was started in
1965 and was completed in March 1969. This Hall, fully furnished and equipped,
is one of the biggest and magnificent halls in the Island.
It is widely used by the public for holding religious events like discourses,
lectures, seminars, etc. and for staging cultural events like musical concerts,
dances, dramas, etc.
Renovation & Refurbishment was started in May 2018. Total
Estimated Cost is about 28 Million.
The Hall is closed and stopped
using for all public programmes.
Swami Vivekananda Sangeeta Sadhanalaya was started in 2015 in connection
with 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda for promotion of
Art.
The Indian Culture in
the Eyes of Vivekananda: Swami Vivekananda, a great proponent of revival of
ancient Indian culture rich in its spiritual, philosophical and cultural
heritage, firmly believed that it’s resurgence will help in removing the
problems plaguing the modern society.

Cultural Centre was declared open on the 15th October 1962
