  • All poetry, painting, and music is feeling expressed through words, through colour, through sound.
  • Drama and music are by themselves religion; any song, love song or any song, never mind; if one’s whole soul is in that song, he attains salvation, just by that; nothing else he has to do; if a man’s whole soul is in that, his soul gets salvation. They say it leads to the same goal.
  • High achievements in art, music, etc., are the results of concentration. . . When we hear beautiful music, our minds become fastened upon it, and we cannot take them away.
  • In India, music was developed to the full seven notes, even to half and quarter notes, ages ago. India led in music.
  • In music India gave to the world her system of notation, with the seven cardinal notes and the diatonic scale, all of which we enjoyed as early as 350 B.C., while it came to Europe only in the eleventh century.
  • The greatest aid to this practice of keeping God in memory is, perhaps, music. The Lord says to Nârada, the great teacher of Bhakti, “I do not live in heaven, nor do I live in the heart of the Yogi, but where My devotees sing My praise, there am I”. Music has such tremendous power over the human mind; it brings it to concentration in a moment. You will find the dull, ignorant, low, brute-like human beings, who never steady their mind for a moment at other times, when they hear attractive music, immediately become charmed and concentrated. Even the minds of animals, such as dogs, lions, cats, and serpents, become charmed with music.                                  -         Swami Vivekananda           -

The Holistic Approach is about- interacting and educating with real world, building social, emotional, physical and spiritual skills. The way Holistic Education works is by focusing teachers’ attention on the affinity of child’s mind towards the subject, physical and spiritual activities, we are bringing the holistic development. Children need to learn to first value themselves, what they are good at, and by recognizing this they will be able to do what they want in life.

Swami Vivekananda (12 January 1863 – 4 July 1902) was an Indian saint, social reformer, and a great teacher of mankind. A declaration to the world of the wonderful doctrine preached in the Gita: “Whosoever comes to Me, through whatsoever form, I reach him; all men are struggling through paths which in the end lead to me.” Swami Vivekananda in USA on 11th September, 1893

Krishna talks of himself as God, as Christ does. He sees the Deity in himself. And he says, "None can go a day out of my path. All have to come to me. Whosoever wants to worship in whatsoever form, I give him faith in that form, and through that I meet him. Quote by Swami Vivekananda from Gita, IV. 12.

A very small amount of religious work performed brings a large amount of result. If this statement of the Gita wanted an illustration, I am finding every day the truth of that great saying in my humble life. My work has been very insignificant indeed, but the kindness and the cordiality of welcome that have met me at every step of my journey from Colombo to this city are simply beyond all expectation. Swami Vivekananda in Kumbakonam.

"He who looks upon the learned Brahmin, upon the cow, the elephant, the dog, or the outcast with the same eye, he indeed is the sage, and the wise man"; "Even in this life he has conquered relative existence whose mind is firmly fixed on this sameness, for the Lord is one and the same to all, and the Lord is pure; therefore those who have this sameness for all, and are pure, are said to be living in God." This is the gist of Vedantic morality — this sameness for all. Quote from Gita by Swami Vivekananda

Sri Krishna Jayanthi (Evening) - 19-08-2022

Bhagavad Gita Quote mentioned by J. R. Oppenheimer
Chapter 11, verse 32

Oppenheimer was the architect of Atomic bombs developed by the US.
J. Robert Oppenheimer in one of his interviews after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

The context of this verse is -
Arjun had asked Krishna to show him his universal form. When Krishna showed him, Arjun was overwhelmed by the sight. He saw countless universes and all the beings within them. He was filled with awe and wonder but also fear, and confusion. Arjun did not feel like fighting.

That’s when Shree Krishna tells him that he is the mighty Time, and Time destroys everything and everyone. Arise, Arjun, and fight! These warriors are already slain by me. You are simply an instrument of my will.

Similarly, Oppenheimer was perplexed when he realised the true potential of what he had created. And he advocated for placing a ban on nuclear weapons. Using Bhagavad Gita's teachings on the cyclical nature of creation and destruction, Oppenheimer sought solace and consolation after the tragedy.
